||Mother and Child is Belgian jacquard wall tapestry. It is an extract from The Three Ages of Woman by Gustav Klimt. Now displayed at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. Here we see the mother and child in a deep embrace, symbolising protective love and sweet tenderness.
Klimt was a pre-eminent leader of the Viennese Secession and Art Nouveau movements, developing a style that is distinctive indeed. His hallmarks, including the florid use of pattern and color to produce an ecstacy of color and energy; taken by some to represent the human aura during love and passion.
