Description

Medallion XVIII (Bordeaux) is a European jacquard wall tapestry based on Les Tentures by the painter Francois Boucher (1703-1770). The original tapestries, of which the earliest sketches are recorded in 1758, were woven at the Royal Manufacture of Gobelins from 1765. Colorful garlands of flowers adorn this tapestry in abundance. At center is a Medallion shaped image bringing to stage young people enjoying a spring day on a swing.
